Middle Georgia RESA’s GaPSC-approved Artificial Intelligence for Educators Endorsement consists of two courses totaling 11 PLUs. Candidates seeking the full endorsement must complete both courses in sequence. Candidates interested only in the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Education Micro-Endorsement may complete Course 1.
The program prepares educators to understand, evaluate, use, and model artificial intelligence responsibly and effectively in educational settings in accordance with GaPSC Rule 505-3-.114, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EDUCATORS ENDORSEMENT.
Candidate admission to the MGRESA Endorsement Program requires one of the following:
- A valid, level 4 or higher Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate, Life certificate, Induction certificate, or Provisional certificate.
- Individuals who are not certified but are currently employed in an education or education-adjacent setting may be considered for admission at the discretion of MGRESA.
Candidates holding a Provisional certificate or candidates who are not certified at the time of program completion will not earn the endorsement until they obtain the qualifying certificate required by GaPSC Rule 505-3-.114.

Course Descriptions
The Artificial Intelligence for Educators Endorsement is divided into two courses that must be taken in sequence. Candidates who successfully demonstrate mastery of the standards addressed in Course 1 are eligible for the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Education Micro-Endorsement. Completion of both courses is required to earn the full Artificial Intelligence for Educators Endorsement.
MGRESA’s Artificial Intelligence for Educators Endorsement prepares candidates to use artificial intelligence to strengthen teaching, learning, assessment, differentiation, data-informed decision-making, and professional practice. Throughout the program, candidates will apply principles of privacy, transparency, accessibility, academic integrity, human oversight, and ethical AI use.
This is a job-embedded program. Candidates must apply skills in an authentic educational setting.
Course 1: Foundations of AI in Education – 5 PLUs
Course 1 develops candidates’ foundational understanding of artificial intelligence and its implications for education. Candidates will explore how AI systems work, evaluate AI tools and outputs, practice effective prompting, and address privacy, bias, accessibility, transparency, informed consent, and ethical use.
Candidates will also learn to make informed decisions about when and how AI should be used to support educational practice.
Course 2: Applied AI for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership – 6 PLUs
Course 2 prepares candidates to apply artificial intelligence responsibly in educational settings. Candidates will use AI to support instructional planning, differentiation, accessible content creation, assessment design, feedback, data analysis, and student learning. The course also emphasizes digital citizenship, age-appropriate student use, stakeholder communication, professional learning, policy advocacy, and continued professional growth related to emerging AI technologies.
